When my husband Mark and I made the move from Sydney down to the farm with our two littlies eight years ago, we were armed with a dream of baskets of vegies at dusk, a writing desk overlooking the pond, and a cottage to welcome visiting guests.
Admittedly we weren’t armed with very much else.
In the years since, we’ve added to the family with our lovely third baby Ivy, a higgledy piggledy bunch of chooks, a flock of sheep, a herd of cows, Gilligan the goat and Sniff the dog. We’re also sporting a few more grey hairs and a lot more laugh lines.
And after all of that, here we are now – foraging for salad and fruit from our garden, eating freshly baked bread with honey from our hives, and looking out onto the geese in the pond as I write.
So now it’s onto the next part of this dream: welcoming guests to enjoy this little slice of south coast paradise.
We can’t help but feel that this place is too good to keep to ourselves. So we’re embarking on a very exciting project to build a new cottage for our family, while preparing to hand over the farmhouse to guests. We’d love you to grab your gumboots and come for a visit!
